About Us

Having trained as a ballerina from the age of three, who knows what might have been if I hadn't grown too tall for the block ballet shoes!

I was born and educated in Edinburgh and became a Primary teacher there before moving to teach in a village at the school in Coldingham fifteen years ago. Then for a time I ran the village Post Office before moving here to the farmhouse at Gosmount Hill.

< This is me!

My husband, Herman, is a local man who has travelled all over the world working as an oil and gas pipeline consultant.

Although now semi-retired, he is pleased to have some spare time to mow the lawn and follow his various interests in cars, tennis and playing the guitar!

Between us, Herman and I have five children, four boys and a girl but although they've all flown the nest they visit us frequently!

^ Here is Herman beside the palm trees in Kuwait!

This life-style suits us so well because I love interior design and home decorating, often while listening to my favourite music. I also enjoy reading, knitting, and going to the theatre or cinema in my spare time and we both enjoy meeting people, making new friends and welcoming visitors to  our cottages.
